For Healthcare Professionals

Supporting young adults with MS means understanding more than their symptoms, and at MS Together we can provide resources for your hospital or healthcare practice, shaped by lived experience.
Young people diagnosed with MS between the ages of 18 and 35 are often navigating:
- Career development
- Relationships
- Identity and independence
- Financial pressure
- Major life decisions
Alongside a lifelong neurological condition.
Treatment pathways continue to get better, but many young people tell us the emotional and social impact of diagnosis isn’t always fully addressed.
That’s where we come in.
Who we are
MS Together is the charity for young adults aged 18–35 living with MS across the UK and Ireland.
We provide:
Peer-led community spaces
Professional counselling and group therapy
Regional and virtual connection
Honest conversations about real life with MS
Our work focuses on reducing isolation, improving mental wellbeing and building confidence in navigating life alongside MS.

What young people tell us
Young people often describe:
Feeling isolated from older MS populations
Struggling with identity and future uncertainty
Wanting support that reflects their life stage
Needing emotional support earlier in the diagnosis journey
Many do not meet thresholds for secondary mental health services, yet still experience significant distress.
Our community-led, preventative approach helps bridge that gap.
What our community says
“Meeting others my age made me feel seen for the first time in a long time.”
“It has made me realise I am not alone and given me an environment where I can ask sensitive questions safely.”
Working alongside healthcare services
We don’t provide medical advice or replace clinical care - we complement it.
We support young people outside appointment rooms, in the everyday reality of living with MS.
We work with:
- MS nurses
- Neurologists
- Allied health professionals
- Mental health practitioners
- Researchers
- Clinical teams
This can include referrals into our services, shared conversations, or integrating lived experience into professional spaces.
We can also provide digital resources for use in clinics or patient information packs, as well as our Newly Diagnosed Guide which comes in a digital or printed journal format for patients.
Referring patients
If you support young people aged 18–35 living with MS, you can signpost them to our:
- Peer support and community
- 1-2-1 counselling and group therapy
- Events and regional meet-ups
- Helpline support
- Newly Diagnosed Guide
Almost all of our services are free to access, and are designed to feel accessible, age-appropriate and low-pressure.
Lived experience sessions for healthcare teams
We offer talks and workshops that bring lived experience into clinical and professional settings, helping teams better understand the real-world impact of MS in early adulthood.
Sessions can explore:
What diagnosis in early adulthood really feels like
Invisible and fluctuating symptoms
Identity, mental health and adjustment
Gaps in age-appropriate support
What meaningful support looks like in practice
Sessions may include our CEO Amy, members of our community and healthcare professionals, depending on your needs.
Book a session
When our services are accessed alongside your clinical expertise, young people are better supported in a holistic way, ready to navigate what comes next.
